I'm recovering well and getting faster....I'm so grateful I got it fixed....my instep was really worrying me.....you also let me know to take care of my body and to take twinges etc seriously.

Over the last year, a deteriorating condition in my upper thigh had got even worse with increasing pain and stiffness, which no longer improved with use, and I felt my limp was in danger of being permanent....and acting on a personal recommendation I consulted Mike. After one treatment there was a marked improvement and now it seems to have completely gone and after some months there has been no sign of a return. Mike's treatment has been amazing.... As this year draws to a close it is perhaps time for reflection, but also for looking forward and planning for next year.

 

One thing I would suggest that you all do is to aim to look after your body better. It is the only one you get and it has to last a lifetime. Statistics show that we are living longer and I for one would not like to think that that might mean that I would be looking forward to a long period of putting up with pain in my joints, my back or my neck, as I become increasingly immobile. Better general health has meant that many more of us are able to be really active into what used to be thought of as really old age – many more people well over seventy are still running marathons, climbing mountains and even trying to jump off cliffs. Our bodies need to be in really good condition to survive this sort of treatment without suffering serious joint damage.

 

It is the muscles that support, align and move the joints and if the muscles are not working in balance without excessive tightness and if the body is not moved in good alignment and with good posture then it is the joints that will suffer damage – possibly irreversible if sustained over a long enough periods.

 

So I would ask you – for this coming year to make time in your life to have regular deep massage treatment – this, together with stretching, will help keep the muscles in good condition and will find tightnesses before they develop into problems. And if you do get an ache or injure something, please don’t just put up with it and hope it will get better in time – it may, but is more likely to shift the problem somewhere else.

 

Pilates, particularly when combined with treatment, is a wonderful way of getting the body to move correctly, thereby avoiding injury, and feeing better and performing better.

 

So make a resolution to look after your body really well in 2011 and book an appointment for the New Year.
